You might be asking yourself what shoulder season is? It’s that time of year where weather is changing and you could find yourself on a mountain bike ride through fall foliage one week and the next hiking up through the snow to get in those first turns of the winter season. Typically from mid October to mid December, it is a time when everyone and everything slows down. The crowds of summer have dispersed and the winter enthusiasts are not out yet. The days are getting shorter and the weather is unpredictable but there are still plenty of things to do in and around Whitefish if you know where to look.
In October there are plenty of seasonal options such as the Sweet Pickins Pumpkin Patch or enjoy some halloween action at the Clydesdale Outposts Haunted Hayride. The month of November can be a wild swing in seasonal weather here which leaves plenty of options for outdoor adventures and a picturesque mountain town gearing up for the holidays. If you want to head into Glacier National Park the seasonal ticketing system is over but there are still plenty of options for exploring: such as hiking or biking the Going to the Sun Road or wandering around the picturesque trails in the lower part of the park.
Despite the official tour season being over you can jump on board a local driving tour from Whitefish Outfitters. Most weekends you will find a craft market, local music, or a lively community event at any of the main street stores and restaurants throughout Whitefish which you can find listed on the events page of Explore Whitefish.
While the seasons are changing and life is a little slower, the shoulder season is a great time to visit Whitefish
